Between almond and olive groves in a 10,000 m2 of land, a completely restored countryside house, a“cortijo”, is waiting for you and your family.
We are far from the stress and noise of the towns and villages but close enough to all the attractions of Andalucia. At less than 1h from Granada and Malaga airport, 1h20 from Cordoba, 1h45 from Sevilla, La Atalya is ideal as your base camp to discover all the classical sights of the region. We can also suggest many “off the beaten track” excursions that will take you far from crowded places.
We are lucky to have the GR7, which runs from Greece to Portugal, passing within a couple of kilometers from our village. 15km down this road you will find the beautiful, white, lakeside village of Iznajar.The lake from which the village takes its name is the biggest in Andalusia and ideal for fising or boating.
There are so many activities to enjoy in our vicinity: you can go paragliding in the sierra of Loja or Villanueva de Trabuco, do some horse riding, rent a bike, watch birds, try our solar cooker, our simply rest in a hammock strung between trees in our orchard.
Our nearest neighbour is 2,5km away, so we can guarantee you a very peaceful holiday. You will only hear birds, goat bells and animals. If you live in a town you will be amazed by the clarity of the Milky Way. It is really wonderful to see so many stars.
Our location at 650m altitude means that even in summer we don’t need air conditionning - there's always a cooling breeze even on the hottest days.
For families with children La Atalaya is a big natural playground with lots to discover. We can show your children that it is possible to live with only alternative energy, rainwater, and to cook with only the sun's heat.
We can offer baby-sitting if required and we are happy to give lessons to you or your children in French, English or Spanish.
The accommodation is very flexible. We can offer guest rooms in the house with breakfast if required; a gîte for 2-4 persons; another gîte for 6-8 persons; Mongolian yurts for 2-6 people, and an area for tents.
Our Mongolian yurts have 27m2 and are very spacious; they are furnished in the true Mongolian style. The shower, washbasin and compost toilet are 7m from the yurt. The yurts are available from April till end of August, but if we are informed sufficiently in advance we will be happy to let them before or after these dates.
