| We take actions to: conserve heat, install eco-friendly lighting, compost waste food, recycle wherever possible, use bio degradable cleaning agents, conserve/care for wildlife in our area, Lochaber {where we are situated} is one of a very few places globally, to have been listed as a National Geopark. The cabin is constructed from renewable source timber and recycled aggregate and soil was used during the build. Our ornamental pond was constructed using recycled soil from a nearby building project and is kept clean using a bio culture filter, oxygenating plants and a mix of fish varieties. In landscaping Coorie Doon, we have planted only indigenous species and aim to attract as much and as varied forms of wildlife as possible. To this end, we planted over 200, mixed varieties of locally sourced Willow trees. All our appliances are A grade efficiency or higher wherever possible and all our lights use energy efficient bulbs, even outside. External lights are all fitted with motion +/or daylight sensors and the cabin is well insulated throughout on floors, walls, ceilings and even the drying room. Controls are in place for all heating. We aim to minimise packaging and waste and so provide you with liquid hand soap and individual shower soap cubes. We also provide individual solid shampoo cubes which you just might find fun enough to buy. We “recycle” books and hotel sized toiletries with all donations being made to your choice of either the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team or the RNLI. |
