Description

- Chestnut Tree yurt sleeps two with enough space to add two children's beds if required. Alternatively we have a very spacious bell tent for hire which comfortably sleeps two, perfect for older children.

- Apple Tree yurt sleeps up to four. The main yurt has a double bed and there's a small yurt - "pod" attached, which can accommodate either one or two single beds. Perfect for families or just for that extra space for reading and relaxing.

- There’s plenty of space to hang your clothes, rugs on the floor and chairs for relaxing.

- A selection of cooled drinks are always available in the yurt.
Derek mixes a fantastic Caiparinha (a delicious Brazilian rum cocktail).

- Outside the yurt is your own private bathroom, with hot shower, sink, and ecological loo.

- Chestnut tree yurt has reading lights and a power point sufficient for a laptop.

- Apple Tree Yurt runs on its own independent solar
panel at 12volts and has two reading lights.

- The yurts stand on a platform beside a chestnut tree, providing all-day shade (hammocks and loungers provided).

- We live just a few minutes walk away if you need us for anything. We have lived in Portugal since 2001 and enjoy our hectare of terraced land with our two children, Theo  and Ella, the chickens, the dog and the cat.

The nearest village is ten minutes walk away, and has a café and a very small shop. The two closest towns, Arganil and Gois, are a twenty-minute drive away, and each has a supermarket, a weekly market and several cafés and restaurants. The closest airport is Porto, two and a half hours’ drive from here.

There are several natural river beaches close by, perfect for wild swimming and relaxing. You can walk off the property and into the hills, or drive a short way to access fine mountain walks, abandoned hill villages, country restaurants, lakes and reservoirs.

From The Sunday Times: 'The 20 coolest camp sites in Europe. No 2
LUGAR VARZEAS, Portugal:

Camp with a clear conscience in the hills of central Portugal, surrounded by the scent of jasmine, eucalyptus and orange blossom. The turquoise eco-yurts have a brass-knobbed bed and retro furnishings, while the owners’ organic allotment provides vines, figs and basil. Their chickens will lay your morning eggs, and you’ll wake up to find your breakfast in a hamper at your yurt’s front door before you skip off for a solar-powered hot shower. .'
