Nestled between unspoiled rainforest and the banks of the Moho River, Cotton Tree Lodge offers a tranquil, eco-friendly retreat on 100 private acres in the undiscovered Toledo District.
The lodge is "off the grid" and has an environmental focus, while still offering the amenities to keep guests comfortable. Electricity is available 24/7, generated through solar power supplemented by a generator. Our organic garden and citrus, mango, and papaya orchard produces the majority of our restaurant's requirements. Each cabana has a private bathroom, hand woven Mayan textiles, fresh tropical flowers daily, drinking water, ceiling fans, and hammocks. Many have balconies overlooking the rivers or gardens.
Guests take their meals in our Main Lodge building, which also contains the bar, gift shop, free wireless internet, and plenty of space for reading, playing board games, and relaxing. The restaurant serves both Belizean and American influenced cuisine, featuring produce harvested from our on-site organic garden.
Each day guests are offered a choice of on and off-site activities which are included in the package rates. Activities available on the grounds include horseback riding, medicinal plant walks, night hikes, birding, kayaking, and swimming. Off-site excursions include Mayan ruins such as Nim Li Punit and Lubaantun, visits to local Mayan villages to learn traditional chocolate making or corn tortilla making, natural adventures such as swimming in Blue Creek Cave or Rio Blanco Waterfall, and cultural trips such as Barranco, a Garifuna village with dancing and drumming demonstrations.
