Description
Lahuen Co is an eco resort and Spa deeply immersed in a vast protected area of Patagonia, with glacier-shaped lakes and valleys and huge volcanoes, a petrified lava river, black sand beaches and natural hot springs.
We are situated 82 km fron San Martin de los Andes, and the same distance from the airport at Chapelco. The facilities are more than 20km far away from any other human impact.
Rooms were conceived and built for lodging in high comfort with the least impact on the environment. Minimum land was impacted and maximum thermal isolation was built in, minimizing energy consuption; water is treated biologically on site; central heating is provided by the geo-thermal resource, and most of the electricity is generated by a micro-turbine.
A surprising SPA with thermal waters make the experience even more unique.
A normal day might take you on an easy trek on the Escorial, a 400 year old lava river, and through a natural "bonsai" forest. Or you could choose to hike the Lanin Volcano up to the foot of its top glacier. Other alternatives include sailing on the drinkable waters of Lake Epulafquen; rowing a canoe or kayak to the Carilafquen River and descending the rapids back to the lake.
Our lakes and rivers are perfect for fly fishing. For birders, there is a huge bio-diversity of species to enjoy, from the mighty Condor to the Ruby Picaflor.
In winter, return from a day's snow-shoeing or traverse skiing to a fabulous tea with home-made cakes and pastries, then enjoy a relaxing time in the spa before dinner in our superb restaurant.
