Argument Cottage provides luxury Four Star eco friendly holiday accommodation accredited by VisitBritain. Our lovely holiday cottage is situated on the Gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors in the beautiful market town- and ancient capital of Cleveland- Guisborough.
Centrally located on Northgate two minutes from the town centre and 12th Century Augustinian Priory Ruins, the property is a former miners' cottage. Despite the approximate 130 year history, the cottage has been fully refurbished to a superb standard whilst at the same time retaining many original features.
Sleeping four, Argument Cottage is an ideal base for exploring not only Cleveland’s ancient capital Guisborough, but also the surrounding areas, including the North York Moors National Park, Captain Cook Country, Heartbeat Country, the Cleveland Way Walk, Whitby- many other coastal villages such as Robin Hood's Bay- and much more.
Since opening in 2005, Phil and Maria have designed an environmentally friendly and high quality business, looking after the needs of tourists, business people and returning family and friends. As a result Argument Cottage achieved a Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) the national accreditation scheme for sustainable tourism and a finalist in the coveted Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Award in the category of Sustainable Tourism.
Examples of our 'green activities' include, recycling waste, using low energy light bulbs, rainwater harvesting, local and fair trade supplies, supporting cycling and walking (especially along the Cleveland Way). We aim to Reduce, Reuse and Recyle whenever and wherever possible.
The luxury four star cottage is entered via two steps directly from Northgate. The lounge area with bay window accommodates one leather three seat sofa, one leather recliner chair, coffee table, radiator, feature fireplace with electric flame effect fire, Freeview TV, Video and DVD player.
The first floor is accessed by a short (but fairly steep) staircase with hand rails on both sides. The luxury double bed has mattress and pillow protectors and fresh linen, as well under bed storage. Soft furnishings are complementary in both bedrooms with touch lamps, bedside cabinets and radio alarms.
Bedroom number two contains twin beds with mattress and pillow protectors and fresh linen. Directly outside the bedroom is a small wardrobe with rail and hangers and to the left is the bathroom door.
The bathroom has been completely refitted. It has a bath with shower attachment taps, hand rail, wash basin, dual flush lavatory, wall mounted cabinet, mirror, shelf, radiator, towel rails and first aid kit. It has a laminated floor, set of shelves and electric shaver point on the wall near the mirror.
The property is double glazed with particular regard to safety. Both bedrooms have windows fitted which will allow escape in the event of an emergency. There is also full central heating throughout and Combination Boiler providing instant and constant hot water supplies.
The newly refurbished rear courtyard contains a bench, bistro table, two chairs, a wealth of hanging baskets, potted plants, water butt for rain water harvesting and cycle and walkers storage for you to enjoy. It is a secluded, quiet and peaceful area to spend a sunny afternoon.
