We take actions to: conserve heat, conserve water, install eco-friendly lighting, reduce oil/gas carbon emissions, compost waste food, recycle wherever possible, use bio degradable cleaning agents, use reclamation building materials, use renewable natural furnishings, source food locally, offer local employment, instruct staff in green practices, include green room info packs, conserve/care for wildlife in our area, LISTED BELOW ARE SOME OF EL NIDO'S GREEN PRACTICES: Incandescent bulbs have been replaced with compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). · Water heaters in the rooms replaced with more efficient units. New, more fuel-efficient generators awaiting installation. · Heat from air conditioning units reclaimed to heat water. Air conditioning units are turned off when guests are not in the rooms. Air conditioning in the clubhouse restaurant is scheduled. · All dinghies/speedboats have switched to four-stroke Etek engines that burn fuel more efficiently than the former two-stroke ones. · Desalination plant · A rainwater catchment system is in place to capture, filter, and store rainwater. · Every room has a "Laundry Note Card" which informs guests about the limited water resources in El Nido. · The sewage treatment plant utilizes a combination of two processes in which the organic solids are consumed by the action of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, converting it into water, gas, and organic ash. The product water is used in flushing toilets, watering the plants, and supplying fire hydrants. · Grey water from the Housekeeping laundry area passes through a reed bed to remove phosphates from soap before it is passed on to the sewage treatment plant.

Description

At Lagen Island Resort trees and limestone cliffs provide various niches for a diverse variety of birds and mammals.

Lagen Island Resort has a total of 51 rooms with a variety of accommodation types: 18 Water Cottages built on stilt, 9 Beachfront Cottages with a perfect view of the entire cove, 20 Forest Rooms, and 4 Forest Suites built on the fringes of a tropical forest.

All rooms have floors made of antique woods and furnishings made of old wood from old houses. Each cottage, room, and suite is air conditioned and has a private toilet and shower with bath amenities and a hair dryer, a mini-bar, stereo system with CD player, and IDD telephone.

El Nido Resorts (Lagen Island and Miniloc Island) are the only Philippine property to have made it to the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler Green List 2006 and Island Magazine’s Blue List 2007.  The honorees,were chosen based on their environmental preservation efforts, involvement with local communities and the quality of guest experience. El Nido Resorts was also a finalist in the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards 2007 for Investor in People Category. Latest addition to El Nido Resorts awards is the Green Hotel Recognition Award from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
