Estancia Ranquilco is a remote family-owned 100,000 acre horse and cattle ranch nestled in the foothills of the Andes. It is a vast expanse of land in Patagonia, stretching across leagues of high steppes, river valleys, grazing meadows, and jagged cliffs, into the very heart of the Argentine cordillera. Ranquilco’s western boundary is the border with Chile – the high country - graced with lakes, waterfalls, condors, hot springs and weeks of wandering.
The lodge welcomes guests for fly fishing and horse riding vacations, as well as those wanting a cultural or working extended vacation or a volunteer opportunity. That means we are home to a wonderful community of adventurers, horse lovers, and meaning seekers.
In January and February 2010, we are excited to offer horse trekking into the Andes. This is a unique small group horseback adventure into rugged and pristine mountains. Seven and ten day trips combine luxury lodging at our ranch with camping in the stunning, ever changing landscapes of the cordillera. Our pack trips allow you to reach areas in the mountains inaccessible by car. You will enjoy breathtaking scenery, excellent local food, sure footed, responsive horses and the serenity only possible in deep nature.
On January 27th – Wednesday February 3rd, 2010 we are offering a chance to work and ride with the gauchos of Argentina at our annual branding. Learn to drive, cut and run cattle on the range before working in the corrals. This is an amazing opportunity for the more advanced equestrian to work one of our responsive cattle horses and to experience gaucho culture firsthand.
Experience the real Patagonia at Estancia Ranquilco… its landscape, animals and people.
