Description

The Manor House Stables are located in the heart of rural Lincolnshire at the edge of the village of Martin lying centrally between the Wolds to the east, the Fens to the south and the historic city of Lincoln to the north.

Dating back to the18th century our Grade II Listed Stable Block was originally used for stabling the horses, housing the coach and providing living accommodation for the workers who farmed the surrounding land.  We have now lovingly restored it, using natural eco-friendly materials and traditional methods, and are proud to offer two units of quality self-catering accommodation in this historic building. The units can be rented either separately or together for weeklong stays or for shorter breaks away.

Both units are warm and welcoming with wood-burning stoves, exposed beams and lime-washed walls. The Bothy sleeps 2 in the main bedroom, plus 1 adult or child in the small bed under the stairs; the Hayloft accommodates 2 in the master bedroom plus 2 adults (or several!) children in the 'box bed'.

Environmentally-friendly 'breathable' materials have been used throughout - hemp, cotton and boards made of wood fibre insulate the walls and ceilings, layers of recycled glass and limecrete insulate below the ground floors and a wood pellet boiler and solar panels fuel the hot water, cast iron radiators and underfloor heating. Natural paints and wood finishes have been used both inside and outside the building.

Natural materials are everywhere - fabrics are soft and natural and colours are warm and earthy.  The wooden and brick floors are covered in braided rugs and recycled cotton mats, luxury mattresses are made of organic wool, and sofas and chairs are covered with cotton and linen or soft leather.

The Victorian spa town of Woodhall Spa with its shops, restaurants, historic cinema and famous golfing centre is only a few miles away.
