Experience Hawaii as it used to be...Totally private and secluded, unspoiled, just you and the sights, sounds and smells of a lush green tropical rain forest in paradise. Loose yourself at our rain forest hideaway. This is the first time this unique private estate has been offered as a vacation rental. Come...Live Aloha
If you a coming to the Hilo side of the Big Island to see waterfalls and experience the rain forest then this is the property for you. This home is located in one of the most pristine tropical rain-forest areas on the Big Island. As you enter this property you drive along a private 400 foot long driveway surrounded by giant tree ferns, 100 ft. tall palms, wild mango and avocado trees and a beautiful stream that runs year round.
This is a lovely 12 year old, 3/bedroom, 2/bath cedar home. It is the perfect romantic location for people who want to get away from it all. You will be surrounded by the sound of the year round running stream, native Hawaiian birds and a stunning tropical rain forest. It is also very comfortable with 2 couples who want to enjoy the sights and sounds of a tropical paradise.
Build a romantic fire in the fireplace or enjoy the private indoor cedar sauna. The master bedroom welcomes you with a new "Perfect Sleeper" Eastern King sized bed with an adjacent master bath. Both bathrooms have full size tubs and showers. The second guest bedroom offers you a new Queen Size pillow-top bed.
The master bedroom has a large Koi Pond just outside the large picture window and the koi will be stirring and waiting for you when you wake up (their auto-feeder is set for 9:00am). Both bedrooms look out onto a beautiful year round stream that runs completely along the perimeter of the property. There is a large aquaculture pond/lake (79,000 gallons), stocked with fish (talapia) and fresh water prawns, just outside the front door. There is also an outdoor shower for those who like to enjoy nature at its best.
Just outside your living room windows, across the pond there is a weeping wall, constantly running water down its rough lava face. These unique places are often called "Pele's Tears". It is said of "weeping walls" that "Pele" the Hawaiian Fire Goddess who created the "aina" is weeping for her children (the islands). We often see a beautiful and rare Hawaiian Hawk (Pronounced...'Io). She likes to come in the mornings and hunt crawdads out of the stream. Watch her from your morning breakfast table as she perches on one of the large stream boulders and enjoys her breakfast. There are only an estimated 1400-2100 of these beautiful birds of prey left in the Hawaiian Islands, most of those are on the Big Island.
This lovely private property invites you to become "one with the aina" (the land). The entire 2+ acres is it's own little secluded valley and offers you absolute privacy. It cannot be seen by any other house and has only one gated access. This vacation rental gives you the ultimate "get away from it all" experience without driving out to the middle of nowhere. We are close to the main road and easy to find.
A short 3 miles back down Hwy. 19 to Kolekole Beach Park will give you the opportunity to swim in a huge waterfall that drops into a stream. This waterfall is located in a City & County Park and admission is free. It is rarely found by tourists and is easily accessed by car with a nice paved road (no hiking required) it even has a rope swing.
One last very important feature...This private little valley and surrounding area is "Cokey Free". (NO "high pitched" screaming Cokey Frogs all night!) Fall asleep to the crickets singing and the soothing sound of the stream running over the rocks. It is also one of the few houses on the Hilo side of the island that does not have a metal roof (less than 1%). Metal roof you say? If you have stayed on the Hilo side before and have found yourself wide awake in the middle of the night to the clatter of rain on a metal roof or the racket of the high pitched Cokey Frogs, then this is the house for you. It has a conventional shingle roof and so far....No Cokey Frogs!!!
The Hilo side of the Big Island is truly unique and offers unparalleled sightseeing. This property is close to numerous waterfalls; Umauma Falls (2 min.), Kolekole (5 min.), Akaka Falls (15 min.), Rainbow Falls (20 min) and beautiful Onomea Bay (10 min.) yet only 20 minutes from the quaint historical Hilo Town. Pick up local fresh fruits and vegetables at the wonderful Hilo farmers market or take a drive up to Volcano's National Park and experience Madam Pele (Hawaiian Goddess of Fire) at her best. Hike out to where "aina" is being born as Kiluea flows hot molten lava into the ocean.
Come...Share our little piece of paradise!
