Ban Pako eco-lodge is located about 50 kms frof Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The hotel is situated beside the beautiful Nam Ngum River and is completely surrounded by jungle.
The lodge, built with natural materials in a Lao-style, has a spectacular view of the Ngum River, forest and the Phu Kha Khouai or Buffalo Horn Mountains. The lodge is perfectly located for “getting away” from Vientiane. It is a wonderful spot simply to take it easy and enjoy life at a leisurely pace and learn about the culture, nature and history of the Lao PDR.
Ban Pako took three years to build and was opened in 1995. A traditional longhouse has been turned into a cosy reception, bar and lounge area.
There are currently eleven double rooms, six of them in bungalows that overlook the river. Five double rooms are forest rather than river-orientated. This will give you the experience of staying in the jungle with all its wonderful sights and sounds but with a feeling of being content, secure and stress-free within the lodge.
The Eco-concept permeates the hotel in every way, we have staff from the local villages, all energy is produced by our own solar cell system, everything served in the restaurant comes from the farmers nearby,
Ban Pako runs its own developement program for needy villages to help them increase their living standard without harming the environment.
The restaurant has a magnificent view of the river, particularly at sunset. The restaurant serves excellent Lao and European dishes at reasonable prices and special requests can be catered for with advance notice. The bar serves cold beers, whiskies, and cool drinks as well as a selection of local Lao alcohols and herbal drinks.
The lodge is happy to arrange special occasions, parties, workshops and seminars.
Ban Pako also arranges tours and trekkings in the surronding jungle and the villages along the river, and excursions to the local Buddhist temple.
