Description

ENVIRONMENTAL LEADER

Maple Hill Farm’s commitment to minimizing their environmental impact and educating their guests earned them Maine’s first “Environmental Leader” green lodging establishment certification.

A wind turbine and large solar array provide much of the electrical needs of the intimate 8-room B&B as well as the adjoining conference center, as well as almost all of the hot water needs for guests.

AWARD WINNING

This Augusta-area inn named “One of 30 Great U.S. Inns” by the June 2002 issue of Travel and Leisure magazine, was also an Editors’ Pick noted as the “Best of Both Worlds” by the 2002 and 2003 Yankee Magazine Travel Guide to New England.  In 1997, we were rated “Best bed & breakfast hands down" by a statewide newspaper poll.  In 2004, we received the Maine “Governor’s Award for Environmental Execllence.”

VACATION AS WELL AS BUSINESS

The Inn is full of amenities for the business traveler as well as the vacationer.

We have a small guest kitchen with refrigerator and microwave, plus 24-hour teas and baked goods, including Maine-grown herbal teas. High-speed wireless internet is available throughout the facility at no charge.  Each room has cable television, DVD player, VCR, telephone with dataport, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, and many little touches you will discover during your stay.

There are meeting and special event facilities at the property for groups of any size… from casual meetings to full-service weddings with complete custom catering and bar service.

COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING

Our rooms are spacious and furnished with antiques, all with air conditioning and individually zoned heat control.  Some rooms have HUGE two-person whirlpool tubs, gas fireplaces, and several with private outdoor decks.

Escape and relax on our 130 serene acres of unspoiled rural beauty.  Our rolling fields and woods with trails and secluded spring-fed swimming hole give you a taste of the “real Maine” away from crowds of summer tourists.

Our full custom-cooked breakfast is served from 7 to 9 each morning and will jump start your day.

AREA OPPORTUNITIES

Our farm with expansive views is adjacent to an 800+ acre wildlife preserve with pristine pond for canoeing and more trails.

Yet Maple Hill Farm is just minutes from varied dining opportunities and antique and specialty shops in the National Historic District of downtown Hallowell on the banks of the Kennebec River.  The historic state capitol and acclaimed Maine State Museum are just upriver, along with Old Fort Western and other entertainment options in Augusta.

Our location provides an excellent “base camp” to easily see the rest of Maine, with many coastal, lakes region, or mountain trips (even Freeport shopping) within an easy hour’s drive.

Or take a bike ride on our rural roads, just relax on the front porch with a Maine microbrew beer or cocktail from our lounge, visit our barnyard menagerie of llamas, goats, sheep, cows, pony, and chickens (our own free-range eggs featured in full menu choice breakfast), relax in the sun, or curl up by the living room fireplace with a cup of organic Maine herbal tea and a homemade cookie from our complimentary guest kitchen.
