Puluhalua is a small resort surrounded by nature in a Geobotanical Reserve. It is a quiet and mystic place only 10 minutes away from the fascinating small town of La Mitad del Mundo.
Horseback Riding is the favorite activity for our clients. Our horses are friendly, well behaved, well fed, and strong. You will be very satisfied with our new riding equipment and the crater’s awesome trails. We also have amazing Mountain Biking and Hiking Trails.
Most of the ingredients for meals are produced on our organic farm. Tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, alfalfa, beets, cabbage, corn, beans, and potatoes are some of the vegetables produced in the garden. Chickens, pigs, guinea-pigs and rabbits are also raised.
We put a great deal of effort into minimizing the use and waste of water. All our 'gray' water is collected and used to irrigate our garden, orchard and farm. Likewise, all solid waste is collected for composting and converted into organic fertilizer for crops. We are planning the installation of a system to produce bio-gas to be used in our stoves, hot water heaters and whirlpool.
Our organic coffee is harvested by native farmers who live in the mountains west of the Pululahua Crater, where it grows at an altitude of 1600 to 1800 m and lives under the shadow of the rain forest trees; it is of excellent flavor and body.
Our tractors are a small Creole horse called 'Zeus' and a small hairy burrito called 'Peluche'. These animals have learned to pull the plow and contribute to the ecological work to control weeds without the use of pesticides.
We are proud to work with the community of Pululahua. The community provides workers for the farm, for construction, and as tourism guides. They have also been a source of knowledge for the operation of our ecological farm.
Our house has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and a bunk bed for a maximum capacity of four. The other bedroom has has two bunk beds for a maximum capacity of four.
We also have two beautiful cabañas. Each has a double bed and a bunk bed for a maximum capacity of four. Each cabaña has a private bathroom.
