Shank Wood Eco Friendly Log Cabin is situated amongst 140 acres of picturesque privately owned ancient woodland sited in the middle of a 2 mile beat of the River Lyne. It offers visitors the chance to experience nature and the countryside at its finest. The log cabin itself sleeps up to 4 people with split-level, open accommodation. The experience has been tailored for those who want to spend time off the beaten track, in an area which is truly unspoilt and tranquil. This is the perfect setting for anyone wishing to unwind and enjoy what the untouched river and woods have to offer. The Cabin is situated at the mouth of a sandstone fault and the cliffs provide a spectacular backdrop to anyone watching the King Fishers or Dippers go about their day, or casting a fly to the resident wild Brown Trout population or the visiting Sea Trout. Both in and out of the gorge the river is slower providing numerous pools where Salmon lie. For walkers there are 4 miles of spectacular paths and tracks to explore amid carpets of Blue Bells and Wild Garlic, spotting some of the local flora and fauna that make the area a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Great places to rest and picnic include "Fairy Table", Lady Pool and "Grandpa's Seat." As the cabin is based in a special area it has been designed to work in conjunction with nature as much as possible. Therefore lighting is provided by solar power, facilities by a continental style peat toilet, and heating by a clean burning wood-burner making the cabin a joy in both winter and summer. A water dispenser provides drinking, cooking and washing water. The Cabin is self catering and the large weber BBQ can cook most foods and boil the kettle. There are no fridge facilities but the river is normally pretty cool!
